Something That Is Far Better—Philippians 1:20-23
Philippians 1:20-23: The blessings of Heaven are so much better than anything
this world has to offer.
God has a completely different view of the death of a believer. God sees it from the
other side. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints” (Psalm
116:15). Our death gives God the ultimate opportunity to fully express His
boundless love for us and therefore it is a precious moment for Him (I-
Corinthians 15:35 and 36).
I Corinthians 4:14-17: Paul gives a warning to the church that was in Corinth (v. # 14). He warns them that many desire to teach them, but those who wish to do so, are leading them astray and they have no position of God-given authority (v. # 15). Paul begs them to continue to follow him and his teaching (v. # 16). He tells them he is sending Timothy to them. Timothy is sent to them to teach them Paul’s doctrine and ground them fully in Pauline Truth (v. # 17).
Luke 15:11 - We are God's child by an act of His grace. (Ephesians 1:5)
Luke 15:12 and 13 - Sometimes young people and adults make bad mistakes and we have to let them do so. We are all created as free moral agents. Teach your children right and put them in the Lord's hands (Proverbs 22:6). Teach them right and then let them go (Ephesians 6:4).
Like 15:14-16 - People need to experience the consequences of bad moral decisions. (II Thessalonians 3:10)
The Apostle Paul was very grateful for the prayers of the Philippian believers. He knew they were praying that God would bless him and he was completely confident that God would indeed answer their prayers. Paul knew that one way or another God had tremendous blessings in store for him. Paul knew that if God did not intend to miraculously deliver him from his current situation (imprisonment) that God had amazing blessings in store for him in Heaven. One way or another the prayers of the Philippians would be granted and Paul would be blessed of God.
