Luke 15:11 - We are God's child by an act of His grace. (Ephesians 1:5)
Luke 15:12 and 13 - Sometimes young people and adults make bad mistakes and we have to let them do so. We are all created as free moral agents. Teach your children right and put them in the Lord's hands (Proverbs 22:6). Teach them right and then let them go (Ephesians 6:4).
Like 15:14-16 - People need to experience the consequences of bad moral decisions. (II Thessalonians 3:10)
The Apostle Paul was very grateful for the prayers of the Philippian believers. He knew they were praying that God would bless him and he was completely confident that God would indeed answer their prayers. Paul knew that one way or another God had tremendous blessings in store for him. Paul knew that if God did not intend to miraculously deliver him from his current situation (imprisonment) that God had amazing blessings in store for him in Heaven. One way or another the prayers of the Philippians would be granted and Paul would be blessed of God.
Acts 28:17 and 18; Paul had been falsely accused of sedition, polluting the Temple and teaching contrary to Moses Law. Paul had been turned over to the Roman Authorities who pronounced him innocent of all charges laid against him (Acts 26:30-32).
Acts 28:19: The Jews demanded his death in spite of his very obvious innocence (Acts 23:28-30).
Acts 28:20: Paul tells why he is imprisoned. He is in chains because he believes God has kept His promise by giving Israel their long promised Messiah in the Person of Christ (Romans 11:7).
I Thessalonians 1:5: This is where it all starts. They heard the Gospel, and they believed it for salvation. Everyone starts out by getting saved (Romans 10:13 and 14). Sadly, some just stay here. They have no desire to grow (I Peter 2:2). Tragically, they remain babes in Christ (I Corinthians 3:2 and 3). Some merely rejoice in the simple Gospel message, but never go on to serve the Lord in a meaningful way.
