I Thessalonians 1:5: Our Gospel came unto you. They had received the Gospel and were saved as a result. The Thessalonians were a soul-winning church, they did not just take from other congregations (II Corinthians 10:15 and 16). They took their ambassadorship seriously (II Corinthians 5:20).
I Thessalonians 1:6: You became followers of us. Believers were being discipled in the faith. The Word was being faithfully taught and people were growing (I Peter 2:2 and Acts 20:32).
I-Corinthians 1:23: The one and only hope of the world as far as being reconciled to God is Christ’s death on the cross (Romans 5:10). Without Christ’s blood no remission of sin is possible (Leviticus 17:11 and Hebrews 9:22). The world may stumble over this or think it pure foolishness but it is God’s way (Isaiah 55:9).
The world continually desires to redefine Christ. The church must stand firm in Preaching Christ crucified (Jude 1:3).
Romans 9:25 and 26: Here we have a quote of Hosea 2:23 in verse # 25 and a quote of Hosea 1:10 in verse # 26. The two verses of Hosea are quoted to show God’s intent to reach the Gentiles. It was always God’s intention to save the Gentile nations.
Mark 5:1and 2: All societies have social outcasts. People that are viewed as without value. But everyone is made in the image of God and precious in God’s sight (Genesis 1:26 and 27).
Mark 5:3 and 4: Society has no real answers for those whose lifestyle is self-destructive. They can identify the problem, but they have no cure.
Mark 5:5: Society settles for putting the problem out of sight and thus out of mind.
II-Corinthians 12:1-4: Paul was transported in Spirit or bodily up to the third heaven (the abode of God). He was forbidden from trying to explain all that he saw. A clear explanation would not have been possible (the correct words for an adequate explanation was unspeakable). Our finite minds cannot fully grasp all the blessings and our mere mortal language is insufficient to put it all into words.
Acknowledging this, what can be known of Heaven?
